I think, that it was not in Georgia's intention, to make this war last long - just a quick strategic impact. Some countries have learned to take the use out of UN slow moves. For example: - Make a quick attack and conquer an area.
- Then when the UN demands for the end of violence, you are very willing to end them, because then the opposite party cannot make a counter attack.
- You look like you wanted the peace anyway, when the opposite looks like the "bad boy".
Stubb is cutting short his holiday to help deal with the crisis. He returns to Helsinki from Italy on Saturday and will prepare to travel to the area soon.
Stubb says that he has spoken by phone with representatives of both sides in the conflict, urging restraint.
