Russia won Finland (4-0) in IIHF World championships 2008 in Quebec, Canada. Victory means, that Russia plays in final against Sweden or Canada and Finland will be fighting for bronze medals. In the first two periods, Finland was slightly controlling the game, but Russia made two very effective counter attacks and two nice goals. In the beginning of the third period, there were still chances for Finland to get back to the game, but Salmela's penalty in 41:39 and two team penalties at 47:32 and 50:33 made it harder. Russians penalty at 53:02 gave the last hope. Finland took time out and goalie off at 57:19 and tried with six players. But it all was over at 57:55 with Suskinsky's goal and 4-0 and Olli Jokinen's stupid penalty after the goal. Finland's hardly criticized team, and Canadian coach Doug Shedden, did not have the best day. But it was a perfect game for Evgeni Nabokov at Russian's goal. Goals: 13:41 1-0 Fedorov 23:44 2-0 Zaripov 52:15 3-0 Morozov (power play) 57:19 4-0 Sushinski (empty goal) Penalties: Russia 5x2 Finland 7x2
