Russian borders are and will remain unstable, because Russian hundreds of years old colonization policy. And current Russian politics are not doing anything to make things correct - actually just the opposite. This is actually the situation with several Russian neighbour countries. Geok Tepe, 1881 ended the resistance at Turkmenistan but there was a rebellion in 1920 and Turkmenia got independence again, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Chechnya is an open wound with continuos rebellion from the 1995.
