Global warming & oil producers
Tuesday, 07 October 2008 14:08

Everyone knows, that there is no scientific evidence about climate change. So it is quite hard to understand the political consensus in Europe behind the climate change actions. But when you step out from the scientific field, and check out, who will get the benefit after all, the political consensus make much more sense.

European Union countries do not produce that much oil, gas nor coal. One of the biggest oil producers in Europe is Norway, which is not a member of EU. So after all, it is in EU's interest to reduce the power of the oil producers. And the way to do this, is to reduce the consumption of oil. As we all know, this is not an easy task, and no one is not that willing to pay it. But if the CO2 was about to destroy the whole World - would it be in every one's interest to reduce the oil consumption. At this point, global warming looks like a very good thing for EU.

With climate change, you are not attacking against oil producers, but fighting for the future of the Earth. Of course pollution is a bad thing anyway, be it does not make citizens really afraid. But preventing the destruction of the World justifies every action.
