Yesterday I found a new and attractive online game: Pandemic 2. My friend had already told me, that infecting Madagascar is hard. I played the game for a while and I noticed the same thing. Madagascar seems to close shipyards very early and after that, there is no way to get the disease on the island.

But I believe, that there is always a solution, you'll just have to think for a while. And the solution usually is not the one, which seems to be the easiest...

So here Kirnu proudly presents the solution for MadHow to conguer Madagascar.

Choose the parasite.

At the beginning, increase your disease drug resistance 2.
Then make the disease transmit by Rodent. You know, where the rats travel?
Try to get rid of symptoms by selling them. This makes your disease invisible and gives your more time.
Then increase resistance against heat to 2 - Madagascar is a warm place?

It is unlikely, that a ship will take the disease from your starting country to Madagascar, so you will have to infect several countries with harbours around the World. So you need to increase the resistance against cold and moisture also at level of two.
Wait...

Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not - you'll have to be lucky
It helps, if your starting country has a shipyard.

NEVER think your fine with a visible disease after infecting Madagascar

To all of you people who keep saying "Start in Madagascar": Try working on some strategy. That is the point of this comment section is it not. Just restarting until the game gives you a win isn't a valid strategy, it is just lame and it defeats the point of a strategy game. Yeah, it works but only because you are bypassing a bottleneck put into the game by design. That is like playing a game and restarting whenever you don't critical all the time or the AI didn't glitch. Sure eventually you will annihilate the boss but you didn't really play the game. A real strategy should work regardless of the start.

killing off the world including madagascar (which was last to be infected) with bacteria starting from australia.

Here's how you do it after selling things to try and be invisible.

Try to keep the spread of the disease as slow as possible. You need to wait until you see a serious disaster in Madagascar on your Breaking News thing. Until then, stockpile points. Once you see the disaster, spend all your evolution points accordingly. Because of the disaster, there's a pretty good chance that Madagascar will keep the ports open just long enough to get infected.

It can take a really long time for a disaster to hit Madagascar, though. So you have to slow-play it reeeeaaaallly slow until then.

I infected the entire world except 1 people in north africa!! how is it possible?! everyone died except one f*** person?

The visibility is zero, there are no symptoms, the disease has spread only to a single other country, and Madagascar shuts down its harbours.

I infected everywhere but Madagascar. Just as a boat from an infected country was about to dock, the shipyard closed down. I just about had a stroke :(

With my virus SWAN I ended up exterminating every place except Madagascar, but still a whopping 91000 points!

I won the game, exterminated mankind, startig with a bacteria from madagaskar. I sold al symptoms, and after a few minutes as ship brought the disease to north africa. I then added sneezing syndrome, and waited until all the world was infected, them I chose some 'nice' symptoms, so the peoples could die. I got over 57000 points :)

I got madagascar starting from Mexico, but indonesia and japan escaped -_-

GUY THE EASIEST WAY IS TOO PUT ALL IN WATERBORNE THEN DRUG THEN COLD AND HEAT THEN JUST WAY YOULL INFECT IN A MINUTE OR SO!!!

actually... there's something about this game which is pretty stupid... let's say i make a desease which has no symptoms, just transmission stuff (except 4 moisture II & waterborne combo). 0% visibility, 0% lethality, 0% Infectivity. They close ALL THE F***ING AIRPORTS AND THE SHIPYARDS... the desease isn't doing ANYTHING...

just press the new game button over and over until you start in Madagascar!!! Duh!

Simple, parasites, sell symptons, buy max drug resistance, get rodents and wait until the whole world is infected, done.

I say it would work cuz all over madagascar there are animals and rodents that go to other countries and back you just have to infect the whole world and then wait a few minutes for the rodents to do thier work and wolla you have madagascar but take a virus so if you get the resistance youll have earth in no time

Play as Bacteria. No symptoms. Just Heat, Drug, Rodent, and Insect. Once all countries are infected, get all resistances at least up to 3, then symptoms
(Sweating, Diarrhea, Kidney Failure works well)

I chose Parasite, and bought all level 1 resistances, and transmissions. Luckily, Madagascar's shipyard stayed open long enough for a ship to infect it! YAY! But, all shipyards, aeroports, borders etc. are closed, except Madagascar's HAHAHAAHHAHA XDD

Seriously? I didn't have any problem infecting Madagascar at all. Actually, the first death was in Madagascar...But I can't infect Australia at all

Dont buy all the drug resistances, just add another symptom straight after they start deploying it!! it works everytime!!!

this game is dumb. i played it twice. both times got madagascar and won. what is with you ppl its too fucking easy.....

never start in madagascar it makes it harder cause it never ships anything that much. so start in japan then get rid of ALL syptoms. buy all cold and moister resistance drug 2 and heat 3. then buy rodents and put speed the fastest and wait there u go

I got every country BUT Madagascar! damn...haha

I found out it doesn't matter what country you start off in. This is what I did:

1. Chose realistic
2. Chose parasite
3. Named it YOUR MOM (LOL)
4. Immediately sold symptom
5. Bought level 1 in all resistances
6. Eventually bought all transmissions
7. Waited.., (within 10 min. all countries were infected and NONE EVEN SHUT DOWN!)
8. Added lethal syptoms and won 5 min. later

I've done this 5 times and won every time. My highscore was 84,600 points. DO THIS TECHNIQUE IT WILL WORK ALWAYS!

Ha. I finally did it (on relaxed). Just before the vaccine was deployed, I successfully infected the entire world. All that work for nothing, suckers!

Anyhow, Greenland stayed open forever... one poor ship keeps floating around in a circle, trying to find a port to dock in, but everything else is closed. Kind of a funny glitch.

lol ive had the problem of trying to kill madagascar loads of times so when i try find a straegy to get it first attempt after reading starting country is madagascar.

May just leave the game on all night and come back in the morning just to see how much it's evolved. Or if I've failed miserably

Just sell all of your symptoms, then wait for all countries to be infected. If you're patient enough, wait for everyone in the world to be infected. You'll have an insane amount of evolution points by then so you can buy up to tier IV then just buy something like heart failure.

I started in madagascar once, its really hard to infect anywhere else but india and after you get central europe your pretty much stuck where you are, its harder than most countries, but keeps you under the radar for a long time

i started out in madagascar and infected all the small and hard to reach islands using a virus and keeping it as i got it after that i just waited and all the hospitals closed then started adding on the symptoms and then every body was infected then died and i still didnt get the high score

you know whats funny?i was playing and the government completed the vaccine and it made my disease invincible... it wasent infected by any vaccines

i did it. i used the parasite. took away the symptoms. i didnt add any resistances or nething.
i waited til i had enough pts to get all the transmissions at once.
then waited til i had enough points to buy the 1st 2 levels of all the resistances.
dont add ne symptoms til uve gotten Madagascar.

im playing rite now, i started with west euprope that is all that is infected and everyone is alive and the number of people infected is over 50000

Upgrade all resistances to level 2, get one transmission(any will work EXCEPT WATERBORNE) sell all symptoms at start. or if you do have one, keep sneezing. Once it spreads to another country buy sneezing or get rid of it if you had it before. Wait. Once entire world is infected start to buy symptoms that make people catch it easier and improve lethality. This won't work EVERY time but it works more often than every other method I've used.

Why even bother infecting Madagascar? You get nothing special for killing off the whole world. Your score is based entirely off of the average number of infected and killed per day.

Score = Victims/Time

And the different disease types seem to have multipliers attached. Virus is only slightly above 1. Parasite is much higher.

Kill the world in 80 days with a virus, and you get 176,000 points.
Take out Europe, Asia and Africa in only 60, and you've got ~220,000.

What you really want to do is max out drug resistance. It's a lethality multiplier.

AAARG! used the method and got everywhere BUT madagascar!! so close!

I was able to beat the game on realistic, including Madagascar, consistently with the following stategy.

Sell whatever symptoms you have at the beginning.

Buy Drug Resistance up to level 2. No higher.

Buy cold or heat resistance all the way. Not both, just one or the other, doesnt seem to matter which.

Buy infectivity for rodents and/or insects. It doesnt seem to matter if its one or both, although if both you might end up scaring the countries too quick.

As disease just starts to catch, buy sneezing symptom.

Watch as Disease begins to infect all the countries. Once you see countries begin to shut down their airports and seaports, add all infectivity symptoms and measures.

Pray for Madagascar.

If madagascar doesn't get hit before it closes its seaport you have a small chance of still getting it.

This method probably has a 1/5 chance of winning. My highest score is 22,000.

You need a good combination of symptoms. For example try to pick those, which cause body to loose water.

2)if the start location is in madagascar, YOU DID IT!!!
otherwise goto step 1.

I finally found a way to infect madagascar. Get rid of symptoms, build up resistance, and use only insects as transmission until all countries are infected. I have now done this 4 times to make sure it works and it worked everytime. It takes a little while, but it will infect EVERYONE!

i had all the regions within 20 days than, except madasgacar. i finally got madasgasar when a ship somehow got to the region even though the shipyards were already closed :) im lucky!

It worked for me. Within a few minutes, everyone was infected. Including Madagascar!

best way is to have no symptoms, and to have maximum transmission. Start with bacteria and just WAIT. nobody will shut down anything, and before to long, everywhere will be infected, including madagascar, and you will have heaps of evo points!
