M-Street backyard is ruled by Lasius Niger (black garden ant). There are at least three nests, which produce queens and males, for mating flights. Lasius Niger can be found all around the yard, including the bushwall, where it searches for aphididae. You can check the situation from my backyard ant map. Lasius Niger Lasius Niger (black garden ant) is common in Europe. Lasius Niger is quite small ant with 3,5–9 mm. It is, as the name says, black. Lasius Niger can bite, but does not have a sting.
