It is not only a big deal for Sweden, but in several other countries too, like in United Kingdom. During the years, when UK was doing good in Eurovision, there were nothing wrong with the system. But now, when it's over ten years about last victory, and the last places are more than familiar at UK, there must be something wrong with the Eurovision (not with UK songs of course). I tried to search for the Eurovision whining and it was very easy, as the first article about Eurovision I found, was full of it: Eurovision: nul points for harmony.
In 2003 it was about politics and Iraq war, which caused the defied to UK. Then they found a conspiracy theory about voting blocs existing in Eurovision song contest voting. With this theory British logic does not seem to be any better than the quality of their songs. In UK they have created three voting blocs: 1) Balkan, 2) Eastern and 3) Viking. Britons does not seem to mind, that blocs actually give 0 points for each other and they are actually able to put Greece and Turkey in the same bloc!!! According to TimesOnline everyone knew, that Russia will win. So there must be several journalists with a lot of money as they bet for the winner. But I have to agree, that there is something with the voting, but it sure is not politics or blocs. The answer can be found, when you analyze and see Germany, Belgium and French to give every year top points to Turkey. It is the immigrants, who vote every year their home country. So it's not about Ukraine and Estonia voting for Russia every year because political reasons, but it is the Russians living in Ukraine and Estonia voting for Russia every year. And of course, there is Cyprus voting for Greece every year and vice versa. Still while UK claims that blocs vote for each other, Swedes are pissed, because other Scandinavians did not vote for them. But does this solve the victory? The answer is, that it does not. There has been a winner for different country (and bloc) every year. It is still the music and presentation, which makes the winner. It took 40 years for Finland to win and we did not claim anyone else but us. Welcome to the looser club and shut the F*** up! UK cannot expect to win anything as long as their songs are something like this.
