There has been few years quiet with the bird flu since this Spring (2008). Bangladesh announced its first known human case of bird flu, in a child who was infected in January. The child has already recovered, according to Mahmudur Rahman, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research. The government health department said that the child tested negative initially, but that tests of his virus culture by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention turned up positive this week.
